Ways To Increase Your Profit As a Farmer

*10 SOLID WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR PROFITS AS A FARMER*

Labour without profit is slavery. The primary purpose of being in business including farming is to make profit. This is a challenging area for Nigeria farmers. But there is a way out. A farmer should not only make profit in farming, he should also strive to increase his profit from time to time.

Join me to explore these time tested strategies in maximizing profit in farming.

1. Think big but start small.

↪ It is good to think big when starting a business but it is wisdom to start small especially when you are doing farming in the Nigeria environment where adverse forces are always at play to frustrate businesspeople.

Planting And Harvesting Melon

The melon (egusi) plant which comes from cucurbit species (family Cucurbitaceae) is a vine with climbing and creeping habits. Its leaves are deeply lobed, blue-gray in colour, innately dissected yetalternately arranged, slightly scabrid, denticulate and about 24 centimetres long.

Melon crop plays important roles in the farming system, nutritional requirements and economic well-being of West African rural dwellers.
LAND PREPARATION

Melon survives on impoverished sites and in forest clearings, as well as in some of the most climatically challenged locales. And wherever it grows the plant blankets the soil and helps protect the land.

As the melon plant grows well in soft soil, clumps of hard soil will have to be broken down. Once it is broken down into a fine, loose mix, the soil is ready for planting.

How to Grow Papaya Fruit Throughout The Year.

How To Grow Papaya Fruit All Year
Round
I love growing papaya. They are easy
to grow (once you know how to!),
they are quick to fruit and they fruit all
year round. I can use them both ripe or green, I can feed them to my
chickens, and they attract lots of wild
birds into my garden.
Papayas are fast growing shade trees,
and they look really good, too.
Growing Papaya Growing papaya from seed is the
easiest and most successful way to get
started. And of course it's also the
cheapest. You can grow papayas
using seed from shop bought
papayas. However, the papaya can be a finicky
plant... Papayas are easy to grow, but
not necessarily so easy to keep alive
and get good fruit from.
Below I tell you how you can easily
grow papaya from seed, and how you can ensure a good supply of fruit all

year round.

PINAPPLE FACIAL MASKS:
BENEFITS OF PINEAPPLE FOR THE SKIN:
Pineapple is one of my favourites fruits, but it is also a
wonderful effective natural ingredient for homemade facial
masks and treatments. Pineapple is rich in vitamin C, fruit
acids, proteinases, or proteolytic enzymes that help to
dissolve dead skin cells and stimulate new skin growth,
giving a clearer complexion. Pineapple also has anti-
microbial and anti-ulcerative properties making it excellent
as a base for acne prone skin. It also lightly bleaches skin
removing age spots and freckles.
CLEANING MASK WITH PINEAPPLE:
*Take a piece of pineapple and mash it.
* Add one teaspoon of honey and a little bit of oats until it
becomes as a thick porridge.
*Apply the mask evenly on the face
*Leave to act for 10-15 min.
*Remove the mask with a damp cloth or cotton wool
**Do not worry if during the procedure you feel a slight
tingling, this removes dead skin cells and refresh the skin.
OILY SKIN:
*If you have oily facial skin rub the face with a piece of
fresh pineapple, twice a day if possible.
Or place pieces of fruit on your face and lie down with them
to relax for about 15 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm
water.
PIGMENTATION:
For face whitening and removal of freckles and other
pigmentations.
* Take 4 tablespoons fresh pineapple juice
* 2 Teaspoons pure honey
* 3 Tablespoons natural yogurt
* Mix all together
* Leave the mixture for 10 minutes to sit
* Then apply on the face.
* After 15 minutes rinse with warm water
EXFOLIATING PINEAPPLE MASK:
* 1 tablespoon of pineapple – mashed or blended
* 1 tablespoon of raw honey
* Mix the two ingredients together and apply with a makeup
fan brush liberally to your face and neck.
* Leave on for 5-10 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
* Use a warm washcloth to gently wipe your face.
**Your skin may also be sensitive afterward, moisturise and
be aware of direct sun for the day.

6 Main Reasons Why some Farmers Fail.

6 REASONS WHY SOME FARMERS FAIL

People don’t just fail. People fail because they fail do certain things that they ought to do. The farming industry is replete of many farmers who have given up. Let’s quickly explore the six vital reasons why they failed.

1. They are absent. Absentee farmers will always fail. To succeed in farming, you must be around your farm most of the time one way or the other.

2. They do it alone. Those who do the farming business just by themselves without meaningful and proper interactions with farmers that matters will pack up sooner or later. No one can succeed alone. A smart farmer knows that there are webs of interactions with farmers, vets, nutritionists and other notable professionals that will make farming successful.

3. They like cheap inputs instead of going for quality. A cheap mentality at the expense of productivity will always lead to frustrations. When a farmer is fanatical about cheap inputs, he is digging his business grave.

4. They bite more than they can chew. Some farmers, in a bid to make it big fast will take on more than they can handle financially and technically. And of course they will crash!
