A Must Read For Plantain Farmers And Intending Farmers

Plantain farms can last for decades and the thing about setting up a plantain farm is that if done wrongly in the first year, the yield of other years will be affected.
Setting up plantain farm requires a highly specialised skills,
its different from maize farm or moringa set-up.
If anyone will.not guarantee a good market for your plantain farm, why would you allow them to set and manage your plantain farm for you?

And if they assure you that they have buyers or they will buy the plantain from you after harvest,
why should they charge for consultancy and setup fee and not charge from the profit being made after selling the plantain if truly they are after the success of your plantain farm?

I have to lay emphasis on lot of things this thread is to enlighten you on the workings in the plantain and agribusiness industry so that you.dont fall into the wrong hands and to be able to make good decision as of what to.do.and how to go about successfully starting your plantain business.
Little things are what differentiate the successful from the rest.

I will touch every grey area of plantain business and i have categorise it into 3parts

1.Securing a clean hybrid suckers through pairing, boiling water treatment, through the use of tissue culture plants and through chemical treatment of the sucker.

2.Planting,spacing,fertilising and other management operations necessary to be done on the farm.

3.Expanding your farm and Marketing
Starting a successful plantain farm starts with getting a good, clean hybrid suckers.

I made mention of one recent happenings in the plantain industry in one of my thread which few are aware of.
The challenge of disease infestation in plantain farms in Ogun state.
Many investments in plantain that should be yielding good profit is not because of the lack of knowledge about disease infestation.

I believe this link will help you get more
information on the disease.
